“One of those persons who caused the biggest stir in the history of the school in Suchowola was the graduate, the hero of the 20th century – priest Jerzy Popieluszko. In this school in this village, he has elaborated both his character and spirit, and has acquired the knowledge that was communicated by the teachers in their lessons. He had to pay with his life for his believes and their public promulgation. He has been made patron of our school. […] The pedagogical counsel of the Lyceum […] has decided on 14th October 1990 to alter the school patron. On this day, a cornerstone with the engraved name of the patron was bricked in the wall and consecrated in the new school building which was set up at that time. […] The opening of the new school building took place on 1rst September 1992. The school where Jerzy Popieluszko spent four years of his live has been the meeting place of the state committee of the labour union „NSZZ Solidarność“ two times in 1999 and 2012.“
