Sachsen-Anhalt farmers’ association supports Fundraising of Association FriedensBrot e.V.

For several years now, a regional ecumenical thanksgiving service is an integral part of the Thanksgiving festival in the Magdeburg Elbauenpark. This service is organized by church communities, country women, and the farmers’ association to show their gratefulness.
The persistent drought of the past few years made clear our dependence on climate and weather. No plant can be nursed in such a way that it needs no water. We need to show gratitude for sufficient rain at many locations. Moreover, we have to be thankful for the privilege that our farmers do not have to do their work under war conditions.
Members of the Sachsen-Anhalt farmers’ association provided various regional harvest products. The prayers were held by Sven Schulze, Minister for economy, tourism, agriculture and forestry of the regional government, Ms. Anne-Marie Keding, Vice president of the regional parliament, and Olaf Feuerborn, President of the regional farmers association, among other prominent persons.
More than 1,000 Euro were collected, one half of which is intended for the work of FriedensBrot e.V. The other half is for a project to support the cultivation of rice in Myanmar.

The Association PeaceBread

The non-profit association PeaceBread based in Berlin was created according to its statutes to

  • highlight and make a contribution to the reciprocal connection between peace keeping in Europe and the world and sustainable agriculture,

  • contribute to the commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain in Europe in 1989 and to refer to the new possibilities that were created by universal peace in Europe,

  • include partners from countries that joined the European Union after 1989 or have a membership prospect and therefore promote peace and the understanding between nations.

The members and the managing office of the Association PeaceBread are doing this on a honorary basis. The association acts independently in matters of organization and content
