A rounded day for PeaceBread!

Berlin, April 6th 2017. The management and chair of PeaceBread are done by civic engagement. The 6th of April can pose as an example for the service in this civic project:

A dialogue with the Union of German Millers takes place in the afternoon at the site of the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Street. The Union wants to acknowledge their 150 year anniversary in Berlin with a visit to the project „PeaceBread“. Three busses full with guests from Germany and other European countries are expected.

After this, at an extended board meeting, everything will revolve around the rye field by the Chapel of Reconciliation – thus on the former Death Strip of the Berlin Wall. This rye field, which was originally an art project, is now an important and high-profile part of the Berlin Wall Memorial and its concept, attested Prof. Axel Klausmeier the director of the Berlin Wall Foundation. A field on this historial site where sowing, growing and harvesting takes place also irritates and causes the visitor to reflect, this was confirmed by pastor Thomas Jeutner and a representative from the church guardians of the Reconciliation Parish. The small allotments of rye by the Chapel of Reconciliation are a real challenge for the agronomists of the HumboldtUniversity, said Dr. Michael Baumbecker the head of the Albrecht Daniel Thaer Institute for agricultural and horticultural science. The rye field by the former Berlin Wall is highly suitable to show the connections between peace and agriculture vividly, emphasized the chairman Adalbert Kienle and the managing director Dr. Gibfried Schenk of the project „PeaceBread“. Thanks to all partners, including the millers and bakers, who support this cause. Each side will be involved and obligated to further improvements.
