Romanian PeaceBread rye will be grown in Rubla

All ten PeaceBread locations approved

Ms Anda ENE, Advisor to the Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania, today informed, that this morning Minister Daniel CONSTANTIN approved Rubla Village (Valea Calmatuiului) as the symbolic place of PeaceBread cultivation.

Ms Ene explains: “In 1951, communists deported more than 44 000 people in Baragan Plain, called „Siberia of Romania“. Whole families: men, women, children, the elderly, pregnant women, sick people, from more than 200 localities, they were taken by night, without notice.

Rubla Village, situated in Braila County, it was one of those new established locations, where more than 450 Romanians of various nationalities (Romanians, Serbs, Germans, Moldavians) were left in the middle of nowhere, in the open field, without any means, to build a life from scratch. And they did it!

For years, they formed a very heterogeneous, but very united community, for many, only respect and mutual aid, kept them alive.”

This is really a very strong story and we are very much looking forward to get further information from our Romanian partners.

We are happy to have now detailed information about locations from all ten PeaceBread growing partner countries.
